With Shandong, Ethereum developers have access to a testing environment for the upcoming Shanghai network update.
The Merge last month went through without a hitch, but Ethereum developers are currently busy getting ready for the Shanghai upgrade, which will add new Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs).
They now have Shandong as a testing, improving, and validating environment for these EIPs.
It’s a pure JS-based testnet that runs on a number of client seed nodes, and that’s something we’re quite pleased of. The Ethereum Foundation JavaScript Team explained this in a series of tweets. “This should make the testnet particularly accessible to front-end and Dapps developers, not only from a usability perspective but also in terms of being able to dig into the code base that runs the network and drives the various protocol changes,” they wrote.
One of the most keenly anticipated network participant enhancement suggestions is EIP 4895. Stakeholders on the Beacon Chain will be able to withdraw their money. Additionally, the implementation of proto-danksharding via the EIP-4844 is being studied and would speed up and reduce the cost of the network.
Several statistics from the second blockchain on the market indicate that the Shanghai upgrade should be operational by the end of 2023.
